How to sync responses to Google Sheets?

This is a common question from people who collect responses with a form and want them in one place where they can sort them, filter them and share them with their team. Google Forms can link to a spreadsheet for free, but it gives you one row for each response, so you still work out each order and its total yourself. With Neartail, you can link your Google Form with a spreadsheet to automatically sync responses. You get a new Google Sheet with the tabs Order Summary, Line Items and Order Details. Even better, you can share that sheet with your team who are comfortable with Sheets.

Let's start. Create your form and follow the steps below.

How to link your form with a spreadsheet?

  • On the page that opens, click "Enter your form name". Type your form's name, click Generate and wait about a minute.
  • Check the outline it suggests and click Proceed.
  • Once you create the form, you will land on the form's "Edit" tab.
  • If it asks "Do you want to collect payment on form submit?", click No.
  • Click on "Orders" tab

  • Click Google Sheets
  • Click on Link to Sheets. It will ask "Create a Google Sheet with all your orders?". Click Proceed.
  • It will say "Your sheet is ready and syncing has started". Click View sheets.

A new spreadsheet linked with this form will open in a new tab, with the tabs Order Summary, Line Items and Order Details. Its name can differ from the name you typed for your form, so look for your form's title if you search for it in Drive. When a user fills the form and submits it, the responses will be automatically synced to this sheet. If a new response is not in the sheet yet, click Sync to Sheets under Orders, Google Sheets. The sheet is protected, so Create a filter does not work. To filter it, click Data, then Create filter view.

Summary

If you read responses one at a time or copy them by hand, it is slow. When you link your google form with a spreadsheet, the responses are automatically synced to the sheet. Create your form and complete the steps above. If you have any questions, write to support.
