How to show the bill in your order forms?

"How do I show the summary of an order, organised in 4 columns"- Support forum

This is a common question from small shops and food businesses whose customers order several products at once. Your customers want to check the price, quantity and amount of each one before they place the order. A Google Form does not show them a bill. They have to trust their own sums and you get questions after the order is in. With Neartail, the BILL function shows the products they picked with the price and amount of each, so they can review it before they place their order. Even better, the TEXTBILL function records the same bill in your responses, so you and your customer see the same order.

Let's start. Create your order form and follow the steps below.

How to display the bill in your order form?

  • On the page that opens, click "Enter your form name". Type your form's name, click Generate and wait about a minute.
  • Check the outline it suggests and click Proceed.
  • Once you create the form, you will land on the form's "Edit" tab. If it asks "Do you want to preview this form?", click No.
The tabs Edit, Preview, Share and Orders, with Edit marked
  • Your form comes with products, an Order Amount question that adds up by itself and an Order Quantity question. Click on each product and check its name and price, because a generated product can have no name and a price of 0.
  • Your form already has a Review and place order section that shows the bill. To change what it says, click on the section, then click the ⚙️ icon.

BILL function

You can use the BILL function to show the list of products ordered by the users along with its price and amount. The syntax for the BILL function is:
BILL(currency, [entry###, entry###,…])
where
  • currency - identifier to find the price in the description/answer choices. The currency can be a symbol or text, but it has to exactly match the format used in the description/answer choices.
  • entry### - Entry #id of the fields such as amount, delivery fees etc to be included in the bill. You can type @ and select the required field to add the entry #ids in the formula. This is an optional parameter.
Note: The bill function returns a html. So it must be used in the description as a string literal. Any function that you write in the description must be written between ${ ... }
If the currency used in the form is $, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("$")}
If the currency used in the form is €, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("€")}
If the currency used in the form is ₹, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("₹")}
Similarly, you can write the summary formula for any currency.
  • Edit Page screen will be displayed. The description already has the ${BILL()} formula as shown below. You can type your own words around it or write the currency in it, such as ${BILL("$")}. Use the currency symbol your prices have. Click Save

TEXTBILL(currency, [entry###, entry###,…])
where
  • currency - identifier to find the price in the description/answer choices.

If the currency used in the form is ₹, then the summary formula would be TEXTBILL("₹")
Similarly, you can write the summary formula for any currency.
